RNSoft's IEWebFix 1.1 Fixes Active Content Display Issues in Updated MS Explorer 6

Arlington, VA, May 15, 2006 — RNSoft President & CEO Ronald Northrip today announced the immediate availability of IEWebFix version 1.1, a solution to behavioral changes in the updated version of Internet Explorer 6 released last month from Microsoft.

Mr. Northrip demonstrated the problem this morning at a press briefing.

"Web developers have been integrating active content elements into their websites -- like Flash Animations, QuickTime Movies and Java Applets. Seamless integration with the rest of the content on the page and the website has been the hallmark of the best of them."

"But the new version of Explorer 6 that Microsoft is distributing right now as SP1 breaks that seamlessness. This is no longer in the ethereal realm of Beta software, but in active distribution. There is no doubt in my mind that some portion of the audience looking at your website today will be using this browser."

"This is what the browser does. All active content elements on the page are rendered but disabled. Next to each element there is a tooltip-like box that prompts the user to click to interact with the element. And if you've got multiple on a single page the user has to activate each one! Also, if the active content element actively seeks the state of the computer (like where the mouse is) before the user activates it, the user is prompted with a dialog box, not just a simple tooltip."

The solution to this headache is a three step process. First, the offending code must be extracted to an external javascript file. Second, a link to the external file must be added to the original page. Third, the extracted code must be executed from within the original page as a javascript function call.

"IEWebFix entirely automates this process," said Mr. Northrip. "And not just for a single page -- for the entire website!"

With a single click of a button IEWebFix scans the entire contents of a website and generates a list of files with offending codes. Then with another click the files are repaired. IEWebFix scans and repairs HTML, XHTML, XML, ASP, JSP, PHP, and CFM files.

Download your copy of IEWebFix and have your website fixed in minutes.
